Victor Technologies 2014 “A Cut Above” student contest is hoping to get student mechanics to use their skills and boost their creativity with a variety of prizes. The contest is open to any secondary or post-secondary school students that are residents of the U.S. and Canada (excluding Quebec). Three beginner students will win $250 through a 500-word essay submitted to the judges, three advanced student teams will compete to win $500 per person on the winning team after submitting a metal fabrication project incorporating oxy-fuel, air-fuel or plasma cutting processes. Not only that, but the schools that the winners attend will receive a prize package of different welding and cutting machinery. October 31, 2014 is the cut-off date for entries.
