Supplies at Work: Energy provider to refurbish power plant complex

Doosan Power Systems (www.doosanpowersystems.com) has been awarded two refurbishment contracts by ElektroprivredaSrbije (EPS, www.eps.rs) for the Nikola Tesla power plant complex in Serbia.

Doosan Power Systems will undertake the dismantling and installation of boiler pressure parts on the First Phase Revitalisation of Nikola Tesla Unit B1, a 620 MW lignite-fired tower boiler. One of the contracts calls for the dismantling and replacement of 2,000 tonnes of boiler pressure parts, involving some 70,000 high integrity pressure welds, over a 24-week period up to hydraulic testing of the installed equipment.
 
The company has also won the contract to dismantle and install boiler pressure parts and combustion equipment on the Major Overhaul of Nikola Tesla Unit A5, a 310 MW lignite-fired tower boiler. This contract involves the dismantling and installation of furnace pressure parts and new lignite burners and involves some 30,000 high integrity pressure welds.
