7 steps to success in 2021

Feb. 10, 2021
Follow this seven-step process and you will be head and shoulders above those who have no plan.

“Never change your mind. If you did, the growth would impair your stagnation.” –Anonymous

It’s a new year and with that, new year’s resolutions. By the time this is printed, those resolutions will be a thing of the past. Gym memberships already not being used, money not being saved, and self-improvement is meh.

Why do we always get ambitious and then it goes by the wayside about 30 days later? I believe I have an answer that will motivate you and help build the confidence needed to continue your mundane life successfully. To understand failure and success, we first must get familiar with some general concepts.

What is failure? Failure is when you simply quit doing something or give up too easy. For example, quitting smoking or not finishing your plate are prime examples of failures. Why? Because quitting is for losers. Be a winner. Set goals and achieve them to be successful.

What is success? Success is in the eye of the beholder. Typically, success is based off the achievement of goals. For example, if you set a quick goal of getting off the coach and you execute it flawlessly, you have achieved your goal, which is a success. Here the goals should be RUM. Why RUM? Two reasons: first, it is the best drink known to man; and second, you can give minimum effort and still be considered successful. RUM goes as follows:

Realistic – Set realistic goals. These are goals that can easily be achieved. Some example of easily achieved goals would be things like doing the laundry, taking out the trash, doing the dishes, waking up, showering, getting a haircut, putting gas in your car, eating lunch, etc. Quite simply, these goals are as real as it gets.

Underwhelming – Keep your goals simple and the expectations low. Overreaching or overachieving creates too much stress. Underwhelming goals are stress-free and easy. They have been known to reduce blood pressure and hyper-tension. Just think about how many goals you could accomplish by year end and possibly lower your blood pressure at the same time? Win-Win in my book!

Minimal effort to achieve – Minimalism is the latest fad that helps lead to the simple life. The simple life is the happiest life. Some people say minimalism is to own fewer possessions, but I say minimalism is a lifestyle. It is setting the most minimal goals that require the most minimal effort, which leads to the most minimal impact on the world. Not only are you achieving the great number of goals, but possibly saving the environment at the same time. How can you lose with a life like this?

Steps to leading a successful 2021:

  1. Understand the difference between success and failure.
  2. Come up with 10 RUM goals.
  3. Accomplish those goals and write 10 more, continuing this process over and over while keeping tabs on how many goals you accomplish.
  4. Execute the strategy.
  5. At the beginning of 2022, self-reflect on the great things that were accomplished in 2021. Tell the world how successful you were.
  6. Cut and paste goals from this year to the next.
  7. Repeat this process for years to come.

I hope you will take the time to have the most successful year you have ever seen. Just follow my seven-step process and you will be head and shoulders above those who have no plan. Bathe in your glory of your accomplishments while preserving both your health and the environment.

Have a successful 2021!
