What the IRS, airlines and medicine could learn from the energy profession

Watson: Everyone knows how expensive medical treatment has gotten in the U.S. In France it's free and includes cigarettes, wine and cheese in the waiting rooms. Maybe the U.S. could replace those costly physical exams and tests with the “Walk-Through Exam”. It would save a fortune. 

Watson: I was wondering. Since the Energy Profession has been stuck in the Estimation Age for 40 years and apparently still thinks their methods work well, maybe they’re onto something that should be shared with other industries and professions. Maybe others could reduce their costs by using “estimated” data instead of “actual” data.

Holmes: You’re always thinking aren't you Watson.

Watson: It’s in my genes. Since the only job anyone in my family (other than me) has had for a couple of thousand years is herding sheep, we have learned to use our brains to think while we’re out in the field. Haven’t you always emphasized the value of spending time in the field?

Holmes: Give me one of your brilliant ideas.
