What do Iggy Pop, the Commodores, the Thompson Twins, and Bon Jovi all have in common? They have all recorded songs that illustrate the world of industry and manufacturing. Two weeks ago, The Guardian asked its readers to nominate songs that incorporate industrial themes or use mechanical equipment as instruments. Featuring tracks such as "Mass Production," "The Assembly Line," "You Take Me Up," and "Livin' On A Prayer," the reader-curated list is worth a listen, but it is far from a definitive list.
