Why are Math and Science important?

What makes Science and Math such important and key fields for the U.S.? 

The U.S. isn’t behind in STEM just because they’ve been doing a poor job at teaching students. While that is a key reason, another one that could be a problem is each individual state’s ability to give money to students for college to learn about STEM. With the U.S. falling sorely behind other countries in Math and Science, it’s time to look for other ways to solve the STEM gap. One of them may be through encouraging students with money.
