The reason women aren’t as populated in the STEM career workforce may be even simpler than we realize: because of gender barriers. The infographic says that when a study was done about hiring a man and a women of the same knowledge level, the employer preferred the man.
“The professors suggested a lower starting salary for the female job applicants. ...When evaluating job applicants who had identical qualifications, the professors also rated men higher than women in several categories.”
With this new, horrifying knowledge of gender discrimination, it becomes clear the weight we need to put on equality, especially in STEM careers.
