Improve product consistency with conditioned steam

The greenhouse at the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research (NCAUR), Peoria, Illinois is responsible for growing starter plants used in a wide range of experiments primarily designed to improve productivity and open new markets for agricultural products.

Starter medium for agriculture experiments was inconsistent due to carryover chemical contamination during steam sterilization. The facility installed steam filters.

The steam filters remove condensed liquids, 100% of visible particles, and 98% of particles at or larger than 0.01 micron, resulting in cleaner, more consistent product.
