Reduce energy use and improve compressed air quality with a system approach

Overview:

A meat-packing plant consolidated 400 hp of legacy air compressor capacity into an engineered system including storage, air treatment and controls.

A meat-packing plant consolidated 400 hp of legacy air compressor capacity into an engineered system including storage, air treatment and controls. On startup, the new system used about 175 hp, resulting in a 50% reduction in power consumption.

Historical data from the control system indicated opportunities for further energy savings and consumption is now down to 130 hp to 140 hp. The maintenance supervisor estimates that his labor crew spent 60% to 70% of their time on the air system, and now spends less than 4%.
