Reduce maintenance and improve quality by changing pH sensor technology

A specialty chemical manufacturer’s pH probes would fail as often as three per batch, requiring excessive maintenance and compromising process control. It changed to a new pH sensor technology to reduce maintenance and improve process control.

The new sensor’s durability, faster response time and improved accuracy contributed to higher batch yields and profitability. Overall, pH adjustment time was reduced by more than 85% and batch cycle times were shortened by 20% while improving quality assurance. The company calculates the value of each sensor at hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.
