3M's Latchways Personal Rescue Device gives users an unassisted self-rescue
3M's Latchways Personal Rescue Device (PRD) with 3M Elavation Harness is a lightweight device that can help give users an unassisted self-rescue. This PRD "backpack" is activated by pulling a parachute-type cord. In the event of a fall, the 3M Elavation harness suspends the wearer, while the Latchways PRD allows for a steady descent to the ground. Activated, the PRD can extend up to 65 feet, which is released at a controlled rate through a braking mechanism. If a wearer is unable to initiate self-rescue, the device can also be activated by another person through a built-in secondary release mechanism. The Latchways Personal Rescue Device with 3M Elavation Harness is available in three sizes and can also be ordered with a Latchways Rescue Pole.
