Meltric's multipin plugs and receptacles are designed for hazardous environments
Meltric Corporation has added to its line of hazardous-duty plugs and receptacles. The DXN37C product line features plugs and receptacles with 37 electrical contacts. Each contact on the plug and receptacle can carry up to 5 amps at 220 volts.
The DXN37C devices are suitable for hazardous areas because they are ATEX rated for use in zones 1 and 2 (gas) and zone 21 and 22 (dust) classified areas. They enable quick and safe connect and disconnect of machinery or systems with multiple control loops, feedback switches, photo eyes, lights and other devices with low-amperage requirements. As soon as the plug is latched to the receptacle, the contacts are mated and an IP65 environmental rating is achieved — there is no need to tighten additional rings.
DXN37C Multipin plugs and receptacles utilize a silver-nickel butt contact technology that has a proven track record for safety and reliability. Silver-nickel can withstand arcs, and it’s conductivity in an oxidized state is more than twenty-times higher than brass, providing lower operating temperatures and longer product life. The butt-style contacts are spring-loaded (via a coil spring) to ensure optimum pressure and performance over thousands of operations.
