Grainger CEO Jim Ryan discusses what his company is doing about the shortage of skilled tradespeople.

Since 2006, Grainger and the American Association of Community Colleges have worked to provide more students access to skilled-trades jobs and technical education.

The Grainger Tools for Tomorrow scholarship program ( has helped technical education students across the country realize their educational goals. The scholarship recognizes outstanding students with a $2,000 scholarship and, upon successful completion of the student’s technical education program, a customized Westward toolkit.
