"Manufacturing issue" leads to shutdown of Kraft string cheese line

Some workers at the Lowville Kraft Heinz plant have been unable to work for at least the last few days.

Kraft Heinz officials say a manufacturing issue forced the plant to shut down its string cheese line.

Cheryl Mayforth from the Jefferson-Lewis Workplace and a couple of plant workers who wanted to stay anonymous say both Kraft Heinz and Kelly Services employees were laid off due to the shutdown.

"We've had several people come into our Lewis County office and said that they've been laid off due to an issue at the plant,” Mayforth said.
