Simulation software maker Ansys acquires 3D printing firm 3DSIM

Simulation software engineering firm Ansys Inc. announced Wednesday morning that it has acquired Park City, Utah-based additive manufacturing software company 3DSIM.

The Cecil company will pad out its current suite of engineering solutions for solving design challenges with 3DSIM’s tools for metal-based additive manufacturing.

“Additive manufacturing is changing the way companies are bringing products to market, and 3DSIM is helping to lead the way through its innovative solutions,” Shane Emswiler, vice president at Ansys, said in a release. “That will spark innovation, speed time to market and reduce manufacturing costs for our customers across industries.”
