Kathryn Sadowski has nearly two decades of experience as a school counselor. But last week, she left her office at Brunswick High to get a little experience in a very different line of work.
Sadowski spent three days at Rich Products, working on the production line, helping with logistics and checking quality assurance protocols. This fall, she plans to bring that experience back to Brunswick High when talking with her students about potential jobs at the company.
Georgia's department of education is partnering with 15 local school systems this year to put school counselors through externships at manufacturing companies, so the counselors can better inform students about job opportunities in their community.
