In Ohio, a coalition of manufacturers looks to close the workforce gap

A gathering of Dayton manufacturing leaders Tuesday night considered if forming a new local coalition could tackle the biggest challenge to their growth.

About 90 leaders — two-thirds of them local manufacturing executives — attended the closed-door meeting at the Yaskawa Motoman facility in Miamisburg, convened by the Ohio Manufacturers' Association. As the industry expands and sees a stronger need for skilled people, they're finding a struggle to fill open jobs.
