Texas manufacturers see brighter future postelection

Texas manufacturers are significantly more optimistic about the future, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.

The Dallas Fed’s latest survey of 111 Texas manufacturers is the first one published since the victory of Donald Trump in the presidential election, during which he pledged to bring manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. and to protect American businesses from what he sees as unfair business practices by other countries.

Looking six months ahead, the company outlook index jumped 22.7 points to 34.9, with 43.5 percent of manufacturers expecting conditions to improve in the next six months.
