In Illinois, students look to ramp up their manufacturing skills

In McHenry County in northern Illinois, a growing number of people are returning to school to take advantage of McHenry County College's Manufacturing Management AAS Fast Track program, which aims to propel students to positions higher on both the chain of command and the pay scale.

Enrollment in the manufacturing management courses has seen a dramatic increase, climbing 86% in five years, according to MCC.

“This is the program that addresses companies’ needs to fill leadership positions,” MCC instructor Heather Zaccagnini said. “A lot of manufacturers want to take the people they already have and send them through the program.”
