U.S. industrial production ratchets up in July

U.S. industrial output clicked into a higher gear in July on the strength of auto production, but the rest of the sector is only slowly lurching forward.

Industrial production rose a seasonally adjusted 0.6% in July from June, the Federal Reserve said Friday.
