Atlas Copco Tools and Assembly Systems officially opens their new custom-built 120,000 sq.-ft. state-of-the-art headquarters in Oakland Technology Park, located 30 miles north of Detroit in Auburn Hills, Mich., on June 29.
The new facility will house approximately 225 employees from the former location on Dutton Road along with additional business units. The headquarters serves the motor vehicle, heavy industrial and general manufacturing industries, as well as the company’s growing aerospace business, and expects to add approximately 50 jobs over the course of 12 months.
“Our expansion into a new, larger facility supports the strong growth and increased demand for Atlas Copco’s tooling and assembly systems,” said Anders Hoberg, general manager, Atlas Copco Tools and Assembly Systems LLC. “Auburn Hills is our home and this new facility is a sign of our continued commitment to our employees and customers in the Detroit region.”
Atlas Copco CEO Ronnie Leten, Anders Hoberg and other senior members of the Atlas Copco management team, the Swedish Ambassador to the United States, the Mayor of Auburn Hills, and Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson will attend an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:00 p.m. on June 29 celebrating the facility.
This new facility will be home to the SCA Schucker business unit, which is relocating from its current location in Novi, Mich., and an application center that makes custom-engineered products based on individual customer needs. Administrative, technical and marketing staff also will relocate to the new facility.
