At the beginning of June, 2013, Siemens delivered the 1000th steam turbine, produced in Jundiaí, a city located in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. Jundiaí is home to one of seven Siemens industrial steam turbine production facilities worldwide. The model SST-300 turbine was ordered by Guarani, one of the leading Brazilian companies in the sugar and ethanol industries. "The delivery of the 1000th turbine marks a historical moment for all of us, proving that we can provide solutions that meet the needs of the market", stated Thiago Pistore, head of steam turbine production at Siemens Brazil.
Over the last five years Jundiaí has tripled its production output through expansion and upgrading of its manufacturing facilities. The site has been producing industrial steam turbines since 2006, as well as providing other services, such as maintenance and repair work. Thanks to one of the most advanced and efficient systems for vibration testing of rotors at the site, it has been possible to balance turbine and compressor rotors on-site starting three years ago, reducing the test periods required for this from 90 to 30 days.
