Economic slowdown may hurt automation markets

The global economic recovery has stumbled, and manufacturing is also sputtering. While the manufacturing sectors in nearly every major economy continue to grow, they are all growing at decreasing rates.

Global demand is softening. While this adversely affects all economies, it is having a larger impact on nations that rely on exporting consumer goods. Countries that reported strong manufacturing performance in May were mainly working through existing backlogs. Many economies also witnessed an increase in the stock of finished goods. If this trend continues, manufacturers will curtail their production levels in upcoming months.
