The passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has created a new opportunity for the workforce development field. While new funding for workforce programs was included in the Recovery Act, Congress and the Administration also sent a clear message that their expectations for the system are high. Not only must the workforce field respond to the demand for services and supports created by the current recession, but it has also been challenged to begin transforming the workforce system in fundamental ways.
With this challenge in mind, the Workforce Alliance unveiled Recovery to Reauthorization, a time-limited series that will track how Recovery Act efforts could help drive a lasting transformation of the federal workforce and education system if these efforts receive long-term support through Workforce Investment Act reauthorization. TWA is hosting a number of audio updates as part of this series. A Podcast of the first update focusing on sector strategies with an emphasis on the clean energy sector is now available for download.
