ISA launches Certified Automation Professional Web page

Jun 09, 2004

The Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society (ISA) has launched a Web page for its new Certified Automation Professional (CAP) program.

The Web page, available on ISA's site at www.isa.org/cap, contains up-to-date information about CAP, such as eligibility requirements, exam dates, key knowledge and skills, and a detailed program handbook. Visitors to the site can purchase a CAP study guide. The first CAP exam is scheduled for Oct. 7 in Houston at the ISA EXPO.

ISA developed the CAP program to address a need in the automation industry. Automation, unlike other job tasks essential to the manufacturing industry, is currently not regulated through any certification program.

An ISA study shows that interest in the CAP program is high. More than 70% of the responding candidates expressed a desire to obtain the new certification. Similarly, 80% of candidate respondents and 78% of employer respondents believed that ISA was the appropriate organization to administer the CAP program, underscoring ISA's role in the automation field.
