For its most recent study of digital manufacturing adoption, industry analyst McKinsey interviewed 700 qualified respondents from companies with more than 50 employees and over $10M in revenues, spanning a range of industry sectors from automotive to chemicals to transport and logistics.
Among the study's key findings:
70% of manufacturers interviewed are conducting Intelligence-based pilots that include analytics and prediction modeling, leading all categories of pilots. McKinsey found that pilots aggregate into the three core areas of connectivity, intelligence, and flexible automation. Of these three categories, analytics is seen as the most relevant (87%). Analytics pilots are the most advanced of any pilot that organizations pursuing digital manufacturing are engaging in today.
