Welcome to Interview With a Product. This weekly Q&A will feature some of your favorite products uncensored and without their packaging. Today, our interviewee is the Fibre-Metal brand Tigerhood Futura XXL welding helmet from Honeywell Safety Products. Thanks for joining us.

Honeywell's Fibre-Metal brand Tigerhood Futura XXL welding helmet: Thanks for having me.

Plant Services: What industry are you designed for?

H: Well, I’m engineered to perform across a spectrum of electro-arc welding processes, but I am ideally suited for those working in the shipbuilding, heavy fabrication, mining, oil and gas, and petrochemical industries.

PS: What sets you apart from the competition?

H: With a total viewing area measuring 10.2 square inches, I'm built to provide a larger viewing area than standard auto-darkening filters. My ADC (angular dependency compensation) technology is formulated to deliver uniform shading and distortion-free vision across my entire viewing area, even peripherally. My Selectable Shade 9-13 is designed to deliver a shade range that meets the demands of most standard welding operations.

PS: Interesting. What are some of your best features?

H: I'm designed to deliver a wide-view, distortion-free auto-darkening filter (ADF) lens.

PS: Why should someone buy you?

H: I come with the Tigerhood Futura Shell. The Tigerhood Futura Shell is engineered to deliver heat resistance and dimensional stability at elevated temperatures. My shell is also designed to accommodate spectacles and respirators.

PS: How would people at your company describe you?

H: According to Katie Twist-Rowlinson, Fibre-Metal head and welding protection product manager for Honeywell Safety Products, I delivers the utmost in technology and innovation to meet the needs of serious welders. She says that the size and clarity of my entire viewing area improves welder quality, reduces downtime and rework, and lowers injury expenses.

PS: Wow. That was nice of her to say. Tell us more about Fiber-Metal.

H: Fibre-Metal Products Company was formed in 1905 when its founder invented the protective welding helmet. Since then, Fibre-Metal pioneered the development of quality protective caps, faceshields and goggles with innovative designs, materials and workmanship. Today, the Fibre-Metal brand represents a wide array of top-quality, high-performance eye, face, head and welding protection products.

PS: And now it's time for a fun question. What is your favorite color?

H: The pale blue hue of a welding spark.
