Reduce extrusion press downtime with wear-resistant alloy ways

Print page
Email page

Extrusion press ways at a refractory powder manufacturing facility required regular adjustments to compensate for wear, and replacement every two years. The aluminum-bronze ways were replaced new ones made of “ToughMet 2 CX90.”

The new ways last at least twice as long as aluminum bronze, and require fewer adjustments. The new ways showed no appreciable wear after 15 months and are still in service after four years, saving hours of adjustments and one day of planned shutdown per year to replace the ways.
