Category: Pumps/Seals/Fluid Handling

Product Type: Seals, mechanical

Manufacturer: SKF

Defender bearing isolators from SKF offer protection for bearings and mechanical components against extreme levels of fluid spray and particle contamination. The proprietary design minimizes seal wear, promotes higher reliability and extends service life with low torque drag or heat buildup.

Typical applications include pumps, fans, blowers, conveyors, turbines, gearboxes and virtually any rotating machinery used in plants across industries. These non-contacting seals compare favorably with conventional contacting lip types by incorporating a labyrinth, or maze-like, internal structure. This serves to collect and eject contaminants before they can enter a mechanism or cause potential damage.

Defender bearing isolators are made from PTFE and feature fluoroelastomer O-rings for chemical and temperature resistance up to 250º F (or up to 400º F for special versions); high surface speeds up to 5000 fpm (or 25 m/s) can be accommodated; and inch or metric shaft diameters for standard types range from .500 inch to 6.00 inches and 12.70 millimeters to 152.40 millimeters.
