Flex turns hot metal roof into energy-saving cool roof

Flex Roofing Systems introduces its Metal Roof Retrofit System, which converts a deteriorated, leaking metal roof into an energy-saving cool roof that can save building owners considerable expense.
 
A Flex Metal Roof Retrofit System can reduce air-conditioning costs up to 35% or more, depending on the installation. In extreme conditions, the temperature of a metal roof surface can reach 180°F. Under the same conditions, a Flex white reflective cool roof system remains at about 100°F.  The Flex reflective cool roof membrane might qualify for credits in the LEED rating system. Flex White Thermoplastic Roof membranes are Energy Star and CRRC-approved products, and Flex is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council.
 
Installation of a Flex Metal Roof Retrofit System does not require removal of the existing metal roof, however, the system must be determined to be structurally sound. The Flex Metal Roof Retrofit System recovers or overlays the deficient existing metal roof panes with new insulation or cover board and a thermoplastic white reflective roof membrane. The service life of the existing structure can be greatly extended. The enclosed space stays much cooler in hot weather conditions, due to added insulation and the reflective white surface, while also helping reduce the urban heat island effect. 
 
The system incorporates either DuPont Elvaloy-modified thermoplastic single ply, or Flex TPO Plus single-ply roofing membranes. Both materials are exceptionally durable and virtually maintenance free. Flex cool roof systems are Class A fire-rated by UL, and have been Factory Mutual tested and approved for various wind uplift ratings. Warranties cover the system up to 20 years.
 
Seams of Flex single-ply systems are hot-air welded, resulting in a highly reliable waterproof roofing solution. The single-ply roof covering is applied in rolls up to 12 feet in length, which helps save installation time and labor. There are no glues, tapes or caulking required for the Flex Metal Roof Retrofit system. Installation requires no hot asphalt and can be done without disrupting normal business activity.
