VibrAlign introduces the Fixturlaser XA laser shaft alignment system
VibrAlign Inc., US distributor for measurement and alignment systems from Fixturlaser AB of Gothenburg, Sweden, announces the introduction of the new Fixturlaser XA laser shaft alignment system.
Fixturlaser set out two years ago to reinvent laser shaft alignment. The Fixturlaser XA is the result. Greeted at its European unveiling with overwhelming customer interest, the system incorporates many technologies new to laser shaft alignment, along with completely redesigned software. The result is a laser shaft alignment system that is more user friendly than any previous offering. With the XA, users will be able to perform alignments significantly faster. In fact, “XA” stands for “Express Alignment”.
The measurement and alignment software in the XA has been redesigned from the ground up. This includes the on-screen presentation. The touch-screen graphical user interface, first pioneered in laser alignment systems by Fixturlaser, now incorporates animated, 3-dimensional graphics. The screen graphics keep the user in touch with exactly where they are in the process, and prompts them through the correct steps to quickly complete an “express alignment”.
The new technologies incorporated in the new Fixturlaser XA include:
- Screen presentation software programmed in Flash for animated 3-D graphics that greatly enhance the user's understanding of the measurement and alignment process;
- Replacing square laser detectors found in every other system, and ranging in size from 6 to 20 millimeters, with a rectangular 30 millimeter detector reducing the need for preliminary rough alignment;
- Use of a line laser in place of the traditional point laser, adding to improved target acquisition and range;
- Replacing the industry-stands PSD chips with CCD technology for better laser reception.
In addition to new technologies, other design innovations have been included in the XA. The system comes with the laser transmitter-detectors pre-mounted to save set-up time. Both transmitter-detectors incorporate inclinometers which are read by the system software. Optional wireless transmitters allow elimination of the wires connecting the transmitter-detectors to the computer display unit. The system is PC compatible and comes with network, RS-485 and USB ports allowing options for data download and upload.
The changes incorporated in the new Fixturlaser XA system have been driven by customer input from Fixturlaser users around the world. Extensive testing has been undertaken to ensure that the XA system represents a significant improvement over existing laser alignment systems.
