Danaher
Danaher Tool Group, Inc., a division of Danaher Corporation, launches GearWrench ®, a line of ratcheting wrench and specialty tool products, into the Industrial channel. GearWrench®, developed on a sophisticated ratcheting wrench platform, has the largest breadth of geared products available, including ratcheting wrenches, screw and nut driver systems, ratchet and socket systems, and specialty tools. Today, GearWrench® is the leading manufacturer and marketer of ratcheting tools worldwide, growing to its current 40% market share in the U.S. (comprised largely by the automotive aftermarket) in less than ten years.
Because GearWrench® was solely intended to offer major breakthroughs in productivity by the professional hand tool user, the line was designed and developed on the basis of using ratcheting technology - combining the speed of a ratchet with the access of a wrench. For the automotive aftermarket, this was a winning combination, proven in market share. For the industrial user, vast improvements in productivity require sufficient strength and access, features not evident in the old-style laminated, three-piece construction ratcheting wrench. The old-style ratcheting wrench is bulky, weak, with a large arc and a high failure rate. As a result, it is not a desirable tool for the industrial user.
By contrast, GearWrench® ratcheting wrenches deliver performance under tough industrial conditions. In fact, GearWrench® meets or exceeds A.N.S.I. torque requirements for standard box-end wrenches. With one-piece forged construction and increased strength features including Surface Drive Plus and longer beams (XL product), GearWrench® provides the industrial user a ratcheting wrench that will work well in their environment.
To illustrate its performance among industrial applications, tests1 show that against a standard box-end wrench, industrial users can save as much as 53% more time with a GearWrench® ratcheting wrench. In a confined space (only 45° of turning arc), it takes a user 38 seconds on average to break, loosen, and remove a bolt. In the same environment, with the use of the GearWrench® tool, the task was accomplished in 18 seconds, shaving off more than half the time using a traditional box-end wrench.
With 42 sizes and nearly 20 product categories, GearWrench® has the largest breadth and depth of any ratcheting wrench brand on the market today. The core of the line includes 11 ratcheting wrench products, three ratcheting screwdrivers, three tap & die sets, a ratchet and socket system, and automotive specialty tools like the serpentine belt tool and magnetic oil drain plug socket. All GearWrench® products are warranted for life to be free of defects in material and workmanship.
