DeWalt offers heavy-duty gas wheeled portable compressor

DeWALT, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools announced the introduction of its heavy-duty 5.5 HP, 10.5-gallon, gas wheeled portable compressor (D55273).  The D55273 offers a new pump with increased air delivery and maximum pressure, allowing more users to work from the same compressor.  Additionally, a unique cooling system extends pump life and an innovative roll cage/tank/handle design and 2 non-flat tires gives the unit rugged protection and improved mobility on the jobsite.  
 

Performance

The D55273 has an all new, long life cast iron oil lube pump that produces 10.3 SCFM at 100 PSI, and a large 10.5-gallon tank with 150 Max PSI tank pressure, increasing surge air supply.  This high air delivery and increased surge supply provides users with the ability to add two additional framing nailers or one additional roofing nailer, allowing contractors to operate a total of seven framing nailers or  three roofing nailers from a single compressor at the same time.      
 

Durability/Reliability

To guarantee the durability of the D55273, DeWALT designed an innovative roll cage – a full-frame design that protects all components from jobsite abuse.  The pump is also designed with patent pending low oil shut-off to prevent the pump from continuing to operate without a sufficient amount of oil.  Another unique feature is the forced air pump cooling system, where a fan on the engine pulley and ducted belt guard directs 200 CFM over the head of the pump, allowing the pump to operate up to 100 degrees cooler than competitive units.  This maximizes the quality and life of the compressor.    
 

Mobility/Ease of Use

DEWALT equipped the D55273 with a one-hand push/pull handle and two 12” non-flat, semi pneumatic tires giving the user an enhanced 3.6” ground clearance and the ability to easily navigate any rugged jobsite terrain.  For quick belt adjustments DeWALT designed the D55273 with an on-board belt tensioner for the pump and located the ball drain valve 8” off the ground for quick tank draining without splashing.
