Square D adds Ethernet to motor control center

The Model 6 intelligent motor control center (iMCC) offers Ethernet connectivity for real-time monitoring and control of motor functions. Coupled with the Schneider Electric Transparent Ready architecture, Motor Logic Plus II overload relays allow facilities to monitor or control motor functions remotely at the HMI/supervisory level. Real-time information also provides immediate access to alarms and identification of potential problems before they become more serious, along with quickly isolating the problem location.

The integrated network within the iMCC reduces installation costs by up to 20% compared with conventional discrete point-to-point I/O wiring, and factory installation, testing and verification of I/O points simplifies the integration of automation and reduces field-commissioning time. A trunk-and-tap cabling system eliminates the control wire bundle, as mechanically protected, micro-style connectors enhance network reliability in harsh industrial applications.
