Omron Electronics LLC has introduced three new UHF-RFID starter kits to help companies meet the growing demand for RFID labeling on cases and pallets entering the supply chain and retail marketplace. The new kits are intended to guide users easily through the initial stages of setup of an RFID system, specific “hands-on” learning and internal testing for RFID EPC-compliant label reading and writing, followed by a modular approach to taking their system active.

The basic starter kit, called the “Get Smart” kit, includes the RFID reader/writer hardware, one antenna, cables, a power supply, an Omron “Quick Start” guide and 100 RFID labels with Omron's “Smart Wave” inlay. This kit enables users to learn the RFID Interrogator unit's capability, determine where to place labels and test-run the system within their organization's systems using only an Ethernet connection to the Interrogator.

The next level is the advanced kit, which provides software to write an EPC code to labels, associate cases to pallets and print a compliant label that includes a bar code and human readable text.
The third kit, the “Compliance in a Box Suite,” includes V740 RFID suite software which enables users to create full RFID shipping labels for EPC compliance, including label printing, printing hard copies and/or electronic ASNs and local database storage of inventory and shipping data.
