A new line of refractory coating developed by Aremco Products, Inc. promises to stand up to the highest temperatures in industrial applications.

The coating is called Pyro-Paint 634-AL; it is a two-part, alumina-filled ceramic coating system. Aremco says the product is primarily intended to bond, coat and seal refractory fiber boards and other shapes used in molten metal fluid handling. And the company says it will handle temperatures up to 3200 degrees Fahrenheit.

“The advanced material helps to prevent wear and oxidation of refractory components and increases heat reflectivity to improve thermal efficiency and enable temperatures to ramp up more rapidly,” Aremco says.

Pyro-Paint is formulated as a two-part system: a liquid binder and powder filler. Aremco says the mix ratio, usually 3:1 powder, can be modified to vary the mixture's viscosity. The product can be applied using a brush, roller or spray equipment, and can coat up to 3/8” thick without cracking.

Aremco also notes that the product is environmentally friendly and contains no volatile organic compounds.
