Appleton disconnect switch suitable for hazardous locations
The Appleton MD2DS Series factory-sealed switch functions as an electrical load disconnect for industrial areas classified as hazardous by the National Electric Code (NEC), such as petrochemical and chemical plants. Fused and non-fused 600VAC models are offered in 30, 60 and 100 Amp designs.
These explosion-proof switches are also rated for NEMA Type 3, 3R, 4, 4X and 12 areas, offering outstanding waterproof and corrosion-resistant protection in factory washdown areas, marinas and waste treatment centers.
In addition to functioning as a load disconnect switch, the MD2DS can be used as a control switch for industrial lighting systems, conveyors, heaters and air conditioners, motor generator sets, compressors and pumps.
Among the outstanding features of the MD2DS are: stainless steel bolts and hardware; a copper-free aluminum enclosure safeguarded by an epoxy powder finish; and an insulated, dual-color operating handle that indicates when the switch is energized. The handle can be locked in the OFF or ON position.
Another safety advantage is the defeatable door interlock that allows access in cases of emergencies when the switch is energized.
The MD2DS can be mounted quickly and easily maintained. Stainless steel keyhole mounting feet allow for hassle-free installation, while the hinged cover is fully removable for improved access. Conduit entries are pre-drilled and tapped.
