Bill Schlegel was the chairman of the Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals in 1995-'96. At the time, he was manager of engineering and maintenance at Logan Aluminum. In 2012, when Schlegel retired from Novelis, which co-owns Logan Aluminum, he was director of manufacturing excellence. Currently an independent consultant for manufacturing excellence, Schlegel spoke with Plant Services Chief Editor Mike Bacidore about maintenance, reliability, and the future of industry.
