SAP, Syclo partner for mobile
PlantServices.com
Syclo (www.syclo.com) has agreed with SAP AG (www.sap.com) to co-innovate mobile applications that enable maintenance and service technicians access to SAP Business Suite software from a broad range of devices regardless of connectivity. The companies work together to make it easier to extend SAP Business Suite and Syclo SMART Mobile Suite. SMART Mobile Suite is a family of certified “Powered by SAP NetWeaver” applications designed for work order execution, operator rounds, time/attendance tracking and materials management.
“SAP sought to speed innovation in mobile, so it teamed up with Research in Motion for Blackberrys, Sybase for other mobile in-box and CRM sales, and Syclo for EAM and field service,” says Joe Granda, Syclo’s executive vice president. “For asset-intensive industries, Syclo is handling all devices.”
SAP and Syclo will expand its existing partnership to provide SAP customers with confidence in mobility applications developed, tested and supported by both SAP and Syclo. Co-innovating means Syclo will collaborate with SAP on development and specifications for both companies, for example, on how NetWeaver is extended to mobile devices. The companies also will share plans for future products and collaborate on global support.
“The cooperation with Syclo enables our customers to increase the productivity of maintenance and field service technicians by connecting them to SAP Business Suite for work order or service order execution, operator rounds and materials management,” said Dieter Hässlein, vice president, Solution Management for EAM, Sustainability and Mobile, SAP AG. “Syclo was a natural fit for our business because it is a recognized leader with proven mobile solutions for asset management and field service, tightly integrated to SAP Business Suite, and in use today by our customers.”
The SMART Mobile Suite from Syclo was designed to meet the needs of service technicians from plant floor to customer door. It provides remote access to asset management or customer account information including work orders, tasks lists, bill of materials, service orders, spare parts and other customer information located in their SAP ERP and SAP Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM) application deployments. Deployed to more than 750 customers in 35 countries and 20 different industries, the SMART Mobile Suite contains a library of industry-specific functionalities.
