Rexroth podcast demonstrates how to design manufacturing equipment for lean

Bosch Rexroth has released a podcast episode titled "Designing Manufacturing Equipment for Lean," which discusses how OEMs and manufacturers can design their equipment to be more effective, more productive and more in tune with a lean manufacturing environment.
The company is offering a free CD containing all the episodes and transcripts from its Lean Manufacturing Podcast Series at the upcoming Automation Technology Expo (ATX) East show, June 3-5 in New York City. The CD will be available at the Rexroth booth 2805.
The latest episode on lean equipment design is the third release from Bosch Rexroth in its series lean manufacturing podcasts available for listening or free download from the company’s Web site at www.boschrexroth-us.com/leanpodcast. The episodes are also available from the iTunes podcast library and other podcast directories on the Web.
In "Designing Equipment for Lean," lean manufacturing expert Jamie Flinchbaugh discusses how machine builders tend to focus too much on what goes on inside the machine rather than focusing on how the machine interfaces with the operator or the rest of the organization. One of the core principles of lean production is “pull-through” or “demand-driven production,” so Flinchbaugh says machine designers must learn to make their systems work well in this type of environment.
