PlantServices.com

Tennant Co. has entered into an agreement to purchase Applied Sweepers, maker of Green Machines cleaning equipment. The deal is valued at about $68 million and is expected to close by the end of February or early March 2008.

Applied Sweepers is a privately held company based in Falkirk, Scotland, with 2007 revenues of roughly $40 million. It is a leading manufacturer of subcompact outdoor sweeping machines in the United Kingdom (U.K.) and operates subsidiaries in the United States, France and Germany. The company supplies smaller sweepers used for city cleaning to municipalities across the U.K. and around the world.

Sold under the brand name Green Machines, Applied Sweepers’ products are used in city cleaning applications such as sweeping pavements, pedestrian areas, streets and alleyways.
