Invensys to lead in asset performance management

PlantServices.com

Invensys (www.invensys.com) on April 11 will formally launch a new capability to provide “performance services” in the form of plant, equipment and business performance monitoring, measurement and management solutions. The new capability combines the strengths of the company’s control and asset management businesses to integrate and expand control, condition monitoring, predictive, decision-support and dashboard capabilities.

The objective is to allow plants to maximize “asset economic value” by understanding and optimizing the relationship between asset availability and asset utilization in real time. Operations, maintenance and financial concerns meet in a single set of objectives and measurements.

“The resolution and timing of traditional cost-accounting systems are out of whack,” says Peter Martin, Invensys vice president of performance management. Instead of monthly or even daily statements, accounting must be broken down to manufacturing-level components with real-time performance measures.

Invensys claims to be uniquely capable of supporting the approach with the controls expertise of Foxboro and Triconex, simulation capabilities of SimSci-Esscor, asset management strengths of Avantis, and the ability of Wonderware to interface with virtually any existing instrument or system.
The result, according to Martin, is “the world’s first Enterprise Control System.”
