Thomas A. Edison Institute announces dates, locations for 2006 electrical safety conferences

The Thomas A. Edison Institute has announced dates and locations for its electrical safety conferences scheduled in seven cities throughout the United States and Canada this year.  The 2006 schedule is as follows:

  • Chicago – May 4-5
  • Seattle – June 8-9
  • Boston – July 13-14
  • Toronto – Sept. 20-21
  • Atlanta – Oct. 5-6
  • Calgary – Oct. 24-25
  • Anaheim – Nov. 15-16

Not only has the 2006 series expanded to include Canada, but the sessions themselves have grown to 1½ days each, according to Ron Cunningham of Cooper Bussman.  “Feedback from past attendees has confirmed the conferences’ value and relevance, and we have extended the program in response to those comments.”

The conferences are designed to benefit anyone involved with electrical safety or safety planning, including electrical engineers, electrical contractors, maintenance and safety directors, managers and other personnel from corporations and municipalities.  “Each day in the United States as many as ten electrical workers are sent to burn centers, so a comprehensive electrical safety program has never been more necessary,” explains Cunningham.

The conferences offer customized, comprehensive training from some of the nation’s most renowned electrical safety experts, including prolific author Ray Jones, a 40-year engineer and NFPA70E chairperson.   Attendees will learn how to:

• Develop and implement an electrical safety program
• Justify to management the cost of implementing an electrical safety program
• Use proven design and current-limitation practices to lower hazard risk categories
• Select, use and care for personal protective equipment

Each session will conclude with a trade show featuring exhibits from Cooper Bussman, Fluke, Panduit, Salisbury, Wextex and others.  Attendees will receive CEU credits, a free copy of NFPA 70E Standard, and guidelines for implementing an electrical safety program

Registration is $525 per person, or $500 each for two or more individuals from the same company.  Discounts of $100 per person will be offered to those who register at least 30 days prior to each session.  For more information visit www.TAEdisonInstitute.com or call
