Plant Services to hold singing contest at National Manufacturing Week

More than 100,000 kids tried to qualify for the 2005 American Idol contest in hopes of
winning a single coveted title. Meanwhile, thousands of guaranteed high-paying jobs went unfilled, and thousands more careers will open up as the baby-boom generation of skilled industrial electricians, mechanics and technicians retires.

To help bring more attention to this national Maintenance Crisis, Plant Services magazine is pleased to announce a fun, informal contest to be held at  exhibit booth 654 at 2:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, March 7th  & 8th , during National Manufacturing Week. Contestants will vie to sing the most effective rendition of  the increasingly popular industry hit, "The Maintenance Crisis Song."

Winners will be determined by crowd applause.

"The Maintenance Crisis Song" with accompanying lyrics and graphics may be found at:

The event  will be moderated and led by the song's author, Joel Leonard, a.k.a. "The Maintenance Evangelist." Leonard says, "To help make sure people have fun and participate, I will gladly lower the bar by singing 'The Maintenance Crisis Song' to kick this contest off.
Maintenance needs to get out of the basement and get on center stage if we are going to advance our profession."
