PlantServices.com
The American Welding Society (AWS) presents the Second Professional Welder Competition. The event will take place on November 14-16, 2005, at the FABTECH International & American Welding Show in Chicago, Ill, being held at McCormick Place South.
This timed competition involves welding one side of the web and flanges of a ¼-inch-thick W8x13 I-beam to a ¼-inch-thick vertical plate, simulating a beam-to-column weld. Before welding, contestants will set their own voltage and wire-feed speed. A drawing is available at www.aws.org/competition.
Welders proficient in using FCAS-G outdoors on steels, welders in construction, pipeline and manufacturing industries, and practitioners of skilled trade in the construction or heavy-equipment industries-union and non-union alike are encouraged to participate.
