DeKalb County wins Extreme Makeover Award

With the help of his Unionized and highly skilled crew, Ken Campbell, CPMM facilities manager, DeKalb County, Ill., has killed off reactive maintenance in his department and earned MPACT Learning Center’s Extreme Maintenance Makeover Award.

The award, shaped as a tombstone for old-school maintenance icons Bubba and Skeeter, was presented on May 4 at the DeKalb County Courthouse in Sycamore, Ill., by our own Editor in Chief Paul Studebaker on behalf of MPACT. Pictured are (left to right) Colleen Kissane, Jim Herrmann, Lori Bradshaw, Len Ludtke, Ken Campbell, Paul Studebaker, John Dykes, Greg Eakle and Jim Scheffers. DeKalb's team

“The true value of a maintenance professional is not in the problems that he solves, but in the problems that never arise because of his diligence,” Studebaker says. “This team’s efforts to elevate its performance and service levels ensure the longterm sustainability of DeKalb County assets.”

The event was covered by the local newspaper and regional radio station. For more details and information on how your department might win this award, contact Joel Leonard (leonard.joel@mpactlearning.com).
