Lunch and learn

The Square D Services has launched a plant tour that features a customized, 20-ft. cargo truck. This mobile display is designed to help customers with critical power and production applications, including power equipment life extension products, arc flash and work place safety solutions. The tour began its nationwide circuit on Aug. 16 in Buffalo, N.Y., and is traveling through Philadelphia this month.

The tour truck allows attendees to walk through displays of the following Square D products and services:

  • Masterpact low-voltage direct replacement breaker
  • Equipment auto racking systems
  • C5 reconditioning program
  • Magnum medium voltage direct replacement breakers
  • Low-voltage contactor conversions
  • Engineered equipment solutions
  • Arc flash equipment and facility solutions

The products are fully operational, so participants can see how they work and watch demonstrations from Square D Services specialists.

Each stop along the tour includes a lunch-and-learn seminar, which precedes the walk-through. The free one-hour lunch-and-learn focuses on innovations in electrical equipment. These products extend the life cycle of electrical distribution and control equipment and reduce arc flash incident energy within electrical equipment. The arc flash component of the seminar also covers the level of personal protective equipment required for employees during exposure to electrical equipment, reducing the arc flash hazard boundary and reducing the hazard present to personnel.

Square D Services provides direct replacement options that "plug and play" into existing equipment with minimal downtime. Square D Services provides direct replacement solutions to upgrade any OEM's equipment with the newest technology in communications and arc flash incident energy reduction. Plant managers, facility engineers, safety managers, maintenance personnel and maintenance planners are all invited to experience the tour.

The tour visits the East Coast from September through October, with stops in New York, Philadelphia, Maryland and North Carolina. From November through early February 2005, the tour swings south through the Carolinas, Georgia, central Florida, Alabama, middle Tennessee and Missouri. From mid-February through mid-June, the tour will be available in Texas, Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington and Utah. The tour concludes with a Midwest segment, with stops anticipated in southern Minnesota, Wisconsin and Chicago during late June, July and early August 2005.
