Points, plugs and industrial filters, please

Now you can walk into your local auto parts store and buy a six-pack of Quaker State oil, windshield wiper blades for your '63 split-window Corvette, and a filter for your milling machine.

Wix Filters, Gastonia, N.C., has made its line of industrial hydraulic filters available everywhere it sells its automotive and truck filters. Therefore, you can go to any auto parts outlet that sells Wix filters and order industrial filters for your Fourdrinier machine, printing press or various machine tools.

Bruce Johnston, marketing manager at Wix Filters, says if the store doesn’t carry the exact filter in stock, they can get it in a hurry. “We can supply industrial filters to any of our distributors or auto parts stores in 24 hours,” Johnston says. “We feel this is a considerable improvement on how plant and MRO engineers are forced to buy industrial filters these days. As we understand it, some filters often require 90-day lead times, forcing plant engineers to stock up on spare filters. Now, they can just phone in an order and get it the next day.”

Filters are compatible with all petroleum-based oils, fire-resistant hydraulic fluids, coolants and lubricants. Some 180 models range from 6 to 36 in. tall and up to 6 in. in diameter.
