CMMS/EAM stress test list grows to 20
By Paul Studebaker
PeopleSoft’s EnterpriseOne Capital Asset Management version 8.10 and Revere’s Immpower version R6 have now been evaluated by David Berger, P.Eng., alongside the original 18 packages tested for the April, 2004 issue.

For the past 18 years, Berger has conducted detailed reviews of a wide cross-section of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and enterprise asset management (EAM) packages available in North America. Many vendors have come and gone, merged and been acquired, as well as continuously improved their product offerings in response to changing user demands. Breakthroughs in hardware, software and telecommunications technology have also played a significant role in driving change.
The results now available at www.plantservices.com were derived by inviting 70 CMMS vendors to complete a 10-page survey defining in detail the degrees of functionality of their packages in some 300 categories. Those that are included in the comparison were required to demonstrate their performance in each category under Berger’s watchful eyes.
The half-day, in-person reviews ensured consistent interpretation of each survey question and that the same criteria were applied to every vendor. Responses that could not be audited (number of sites, pricing, annual sales, etc.) were examined by Berger for reasonability in the context of his considerable experience.
In the many cases, vendors self-evaluations did not align with Berger’s criteria, and he corrected the survey responses before we added them to the comparison.
Plant Services welcomes participation by any and all CMMS/EAM suppliers that are willing to undergo the rigorous review process, and will continue to add to and update the comparison table with additional vendors and new versions of existing packages
