While most people would like to blame the large discrepancy between women and men in STEM careers on the world, DeVry student Sharon Figg thinks otherwise. She believes that it is women themselves that hold themselves back from pursuing a career in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.
“I think that the stigma is more of us holding ourselves back rather than the world holding us back,” Figg said. “The potential for women in this field is unlimited.”
With that being said, now is the time for the younger generation of women to take a stand and show the amazing things that they can contribute to the world of STEM.
